Autumn-Winter '21: it's ok to feel free

With more than 30 years as an independent designer and business owner to her name, Nathalie Vleeschouwer has gained a great deal of realism without ever losing her optimism – not even during the pandemic. The prospect of being able to get together in complete freedom determines the friendly, relaxed atmosphere of the campaign shoot for which she once again collaborated with Belgian photographer Lynn Laureys.

Thank you, dear ’70s & ’80s

The freedom and eccentric character of the fashion, music, art and lifestyle of the 1980s formed a source of inspiration for the designer. Expect a strong focus on the shoulders, a lot of power blazers, eye-catching designs in imitation leather and an interplay between oversized and slim-fitting items.

Although prints were in short supply in the 1980s, they truly characterised the 1970s. The influence of prints such as those in the popular TV soap Dallas continues to resonate in the fashion world. Vleeschouwer’s strength lies in styling the prints so that they regain a contemporary character.

Alongside various striking floral prints, we also see a lot of timeless checks that bring depth and balance to the whole look. The colours combine the best of the 2 decades: deep brown, orange and purple, mixed with bright and fresh colours such as aquamarine and yellow.

Starring role for knitwear

Having always had a soft spot for beautiful materials, this winter, Nathalie is extremely excited about the quality and wide choice of the collection’s knitwear.

In past seasons, Nathalie Vleeschouwer has built up the tradition of offering a capsule collection in addition to the main line. In the process, the identity of this capsule collection has become increasingly clear and indispensable in the overall picture. Every season, HAND offers a pure line that is distinctly casual, with a slightly bolder edge.
